Game and Practice Coverage
Games: An athletic trainer will be present for all home scheduled competitions/scrimmages. Indirect coverage for golf and tennis. *An
Athletic Trainer will be on-site 1 hour prior to the start of competition.
Travel Coverage: The athletic trainer is only contracted to travel with Varsity football. They may travel with varsity post season play, but only if there are no home coverage’s needed.
Practices: Practice coverage will vary. Athletic trainer can be found in the Athletic Training Room or can be found at the location as indicated on the door (white sign). *Any teams practicing off campus will not have direct athletic training coverage, but can be reached by cell phone.
Off-Season Sport Coverage: The athletic trainer does not generally cover off-season sports, however in the case of a life-threatening emergency, assistance will be provided. Off-season athletes are asked to check in with injuries occurring when not in season. This keeps us up to date on injuries when the season starts.
Visiting Teams: All visiting teams will have access to the athletic trainer coverage and athletic training room at FHS. We ask that visiting teams bring their medical kits with supplies to all FHS event. We will not provide modalities such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound as those require permission from a physician. We will also not hand out over the counter (OTC) medication to athletes or coaches. When injuries occur, we will make contact with the visiting school’s athletic trainer after the event.
Non-FHS sponsored event Coverage: Due to liability the athletic trainer will not cover any non-FHS contracted event.

Athletic training room guidelines:
- No athletes are allowed in the athletic training room unsupervised.
- No coaches or administrators will allow athletes into the athletic training room without direct supervision.
- No cleats, spikes, muddy shoes, etc. are allowed in the athletic training room. Please remove your shoes prior to entering the building. ((EXCEPTION: football players being spatted on Fridays only))
- Please do not use the athletic training room as a hangout space. The athletic training room is a medical facility and needs to be treated as one. Horseplay is not tolerated and athletes will be asked to leave if behavior or language is not respectful.
- Athletes must be wearing at least a shirt and shorts in the athletic training room unless treatment requires other clothing modifications.
- Please give at least a days’ notice when a team wants to use the ice baths.
- Anyone using the ice bath MUST have their own towel. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- No food or drinks are allowed in the athletic training room (water is ok).
Equipment Check Out
Equipment can be checked out of the athletic training room, but must be returned the same day. We will ask that you leave your cell phone or keys in the athletic training room until you are finished using the equipment to ensure it is returned. Some exceptions may be made.
